Using an auto stat and evo all. Wire to wire connection between bypass and starter. Everything starts up fine. When pushing door lock horn honks only. When pushing unlock doors actually lock instead.  Wires doorlocks to evo only. Going to try using bcm pins instead. Any other suggestions?  After entering vehicle whil remote started with intelli key, I push brake. Car shuts down. Tumbler locks for up to 5 mins sometimes.

Hi Ken,

What is the 12 digit service number on the EVO?

When pushing door lock horn honks only. When pushing unlock doors actually lock instead.

Door locks should be working through Can on this vehicle and no need to wire to BCM.  Start by back tracking the firmware on the EVO or test by pulsing the purple or purple/white of the EVO with ground instead of using the remote starter remote. Also, disconnect the driver pin connection if its connected.

After entering vehicle whil remote started with intelli key, I push brake. Car shuts down. Tumbler locks for up to 5 mins sometimes.

In the EVO option turn on OEM Remote Monitoring, option C1. Also, go over the tumbler connections, There are two red/blue wires and 2 red/white wires. One of each is 12V while the other is a key-sense / tumbler sense. Make sure you are not connected on the constant 12V.

When you have the vehicle, feel free to call tech support directly. 1-877-336-7797

Service # is 001a06360739. I will disconnect the door pin. Firmware is 72.14. Are u suggesting to use older firmware to try?  I will double check tumbler wires. If the tumbler wires are not correct would it still start the vehicle fine?  Only hooked up one ignition wire though two are present. Would that matter?  Wirecolor only calls for one.

Maxima intelli-key does not require an update. The EVO default firmware, 4.18, supports that vehicle.

If the tumbler wires are not correct would it still start the vehicle fine?

If the tumbler wires incorrect or one is not powered correctly, it would cause the barrel to lock up. This is pointed out in the troubleshooting guide for that vehicle. https://fortin.ca/en/vehicles/nissan/maxima/2008-intelligent-key/troubleshooting.html

Similarly, some models only require 1 of those wires to be powered for remote start but the vehicle will act up if both wires are not powered correctly.

  • Test both wires directly at the vehicles connector when remtoe starting. You should see 12V on both wires once the remote starter is activated, not before.

I literally just got off the phone with a guy that had a rouge intelli-key with similar problems. One the diodes connected was not making proper contact.

Only hooked up one ignition wire though two are present. Would that matter?

That middle wire, White/Blue, is actually an accessory. It will turn on as an ignition wire but it drops during crank. Not required.

The rest are required. 2 starts, 1 acc, 1 ignition.

Tried every nissan firmware back to 72.04. Doorlock function still does not work correctly manually grounding out the evo doorlock wires.  Will voltage test the tumbler wires at remote start as suggested.  Vehicle fires up and then once running yellow and red evo lights turn on. Vehicle is only available to work on in the evenings.  Could we use a relay and gwr from starter to activate tumbler wires?  Would there be a timing issue perhaps? Do we need keysense and tumbler hooked up for remote start to function correctly?

If not, client is fine with it shutting down when he enters and starting it again.

Biggest issue is after the remote starter is used tumbler locks up, and have to insert key in vehicle to manually start.  Wondering if we are able to disconnect tumbler and or keysense and still have it remote start correctly.

turning on oem monitoring did not make a difference

thanks for your help so far

Hi Ken,

Want to just call us when you get the vehicle? we are open until 8pm EST and this would be a lot faster to solve over the phone.

As for using the relay to do the keysense and tumbler, it is possible BUT someone can get in the car and just turn the knob then leave with the car. So having the vehicle shut down when opening a door is mandatory. Nothing is stopping someone from creeping in the car via the window though without opening the door. So basically, security of the vehicle is not very reliable if you were to do the tumbler connections this way.
