Brake status is not sent?

0 votes
I installed CrimeStopper DS-1 with EVo-All for my Camaro. Everything seems to be fine. I can remotely start the car. However, while the car is running, I turn the ignition key to the On position. Then I hit the brake pedal, the remote start doesn't get reset. Also, I cannot configure the remote starter because when in configuration mode, the LED doesn't flash when I press the brake pedal. Thanks

Hi,

Then I hit the brake pedal, the remote start doesn't get reset. Also, I cannot configure the remote starter because when in configuration mode, the LED doesn't flash when I press the brake pedal.

What is the 12 digit service number written on the back of the EVO?

After remote starting the car, hitting unlock on the remote and then inserting the key and pushing on the brake, the RED LED on the EVO should off. What does it do?

With ignition on, if you press the the brake and meter the black wire from the 20-pin connector, what happens?

the red and black wires of the datalink connector are for power and ground to the EVO.

They are normally powered by the remote starter since it plugs into the remote starter.
I have unplugged the remote starter but Evo-all still doesn't work.
Yes, if you disconnect the remote starter nothing will be powering the EVO. The EVO gets its power on the datalink connector which plugs into the remote starter. The remote starter power and ground should be connected to the vehicles power and ground. So, if you disconnect the remote starter, you will not be given any power to the EVO.

You will have to check your main power and ground connections.

It is strongly recommended to also have any remote start system installed by a professional.
I'm not sure why the EVO-ALL gets the power from the Crimestopper remote starter but not vice versa. I'm using the T-harness GM1. Btw, if I use the EVO as stand alone. Then I hold the programming button on EVO-all and plug the 4-pin datalink connector in, the LEDs should flash.

Yes, with a tharness the EVO is powered through the tharness. On a side not, not all remote starters will be fully powered through the datalink and it is recommended to connect their 12v and ground wires.

Have you tested the wires? Red and black should be 12v and ground respectively.

  • On a test bench or in the car, connect the red and black dirctly to the vehicles 12v and ground. With only the datalink connector connected.

The fact you can successfully change options in the EVO with the Flash-Link means the EVO is working fine.

There is either something wrong with the Tharness, or a fuse is blown in the car. The only way to find out is to take out the multimeter and test the Tharness and the power to the EVO.

When you have the vehicle with you and a DMM ready, feel free to call Fortin Tech Support.
