Crank but will not start

0 votes
The EVO-ONE is installed and programmed successfully. I could only programmed one of the remotes, the second remote could not be program for some reason. After programming the first remote, the car will crank but will not fire. Am I suppose to do something with A4 (-) ignition and A5 (-) start wire on the 20-pin? I also have A15(-) hood/door hooked up to dome light, is that correct for security? The alarm feature is not working.

You don't have to connect anything to A4 and A5.

Does your key have a G stamped on the blade shaft or a dot ?

it is a dot stamped on the key.
I would also like to add that after the failed start up, the parking light blinked 4 times.
4 flashes simply mean the evo unit did not see a tach signal, since it did not start.

1. Could you please tell us the guide number on the top right side of the first page of the installation guide.

2. The 2010 Matrix was available in 2 models, G-key (g stamped on metal part of key) and NON-G key (dot stamped on key). Since you mention a dot on yours, you need to follow guide number 58481 if you are not using a t-harness. and guide number 24121 if you are.
I am using guide #19291 which is the same as #24121 when I searched for it. Is my install suppose to be tachless? I bought this EVO-ONE unit from an online dealer and had it flashed. Did they not put the correct option for it to be tachless?

Also, my alarm function does not work... I locked the car with the remote and open the car from the inside, it did nothing.

Tachless looks enabled unless you have performed a reset on the unit. This is all your current settings unless you have reset the unit at some point.

Also, my alarm function does not work... I locked the car with the remote and open the car from the inside, it did nothing.

For the alarm function to properly work, you will have some extra wires to connect. The alarm function also needs to be enabled which currently it is not. (option 14.2)

  • Door Trigger
  • Horn or Siren
  • Optional Hood and Trunk Triggers.

I would suggest an easy test for the remote starter portion.

Stick your key in the ignition barrel and try remote starting the vehicle.

Since the RF kit that I got was defective, I performed the steps with 23 valet pressed, thinking that it would fixed the remote programming. I bought a Flash Link updater just now and will reprogram the EVO-ONE.

I tried remote starting with the key in the ignition with similar results.
You dont need the flash-link to set the options on the Remote Starter portion since you have Fortin remotes.  Just follow the in vehicle programming like you did for option 23.

You want to enable function 2 mode 4 and function 20 mode 2.
The second remote was defective and had to do an exchange through an online dealer today. I'll attempt to reprogram it again once I receive the replacement. Thanks for the quick reply.

I will update this thread.
I got the replacement remotes and the flash-link. I...

*Master reset the bypass and remote starter

*Update the settings to the correct mode(2.4, 20.2 and enable the remote/security)

*Programmed the EVO-ONE successfully in the car

*Programmed the FTX-44-2W

After that I can not program the functions on the remote.

*The valet is disable as the red led next to the yellow loop is off.

*I press and held the valet switch till i hear a chirp.

*Then press the valet switch once for mode 1.

*Pressed the brake pedal once

*Pressed the lock button the remote key once

The note indicates that I would see the parking light flash 1-6 times to confirm but i dont see anything.

Am I missing a step?

The first time I got it to program, I had to repeat it multiple times to finally get it to work.
The FTX44-2W programs on 5x the valet switch after it chirps upon entering the evo one feature programming, you also need to push the (-) button before the lock button

please type this guide number : 33051 on the search bar on the top right side on the Fortin.ca website.

It will give you the correct programming sequence for your remotes.

Thank you
Remote programming is in function 5 not funciton 1. You need to press the valet button 5 times and not 1 time.
Finally got it to work! Thank you all! One more question, how do you cancel remote start after you start it? Just to conserve gas when you change your mind or something of that nature.
yes, press on the (-) button then the start button to stop the remote start.
Thank you!
